Experiment 1

We attempted to make a plastic, and recorded the boiling of the milk.
The curd (required from the milk), can be seen at the top of the boiling
milk.
But unfortunately, the experiment failed.

Why do we not need a survey?

After much discussion that our team, had with the teacher in charge (Ms Lum),
we have decided that our project does not need a survey because our project is
about the decomposition of natural plastic that is not normally done by the
society that is now using the plastic that is made from chemicals. This project
can show whether or not this natural plastic and help the enviroment with
global warming. This natural decomposition of plastic is not normally done
by other people as the plastic is normally taken for granted, not knowing the
harmful effects that it cause, and thats why the survey for this experiment is
not needed.

Week 10 Reflection

Week 10 we wrote down all the necessary documents that need to be posted and divided the work among our group memebers to do during the March holidays.

Week 6 Reflection

On lesson 6 we started our experiment on how to make plastic. We got all the items and started. The experiment started well with the boiling of the milk. When the boiling was taken place, we updated on our blog. After boiling we took out the hardened part and put it in the jar. We put 5ml of vinegar and let it dry for 2 hours.

Plastic 4 and 5

Guiding Questions:

1. the decomposition of plastics
2. in what way are non-biodegradable plastics harmful to the environment?
3. the steps and procedures to make natural plastic from dairy products.
4. What if the experiment fails? any alternative methods?
5. What are the results to be tabulated?
6. Will the products be usable?
7. the principle of using milk to produce natural plastics?
8. why are natural plastics easier to decompose?
9. Why are natural plastics better than oil-based plastics?

Procedures to carry out the experiment:
1. Boil the milk in a water bath and add vinegar to the boiling milk.
2. Wait for milk curds to be formed.
3. Allow the milk curds to cool down and separate the milk curds from the solution.
4. Place the milk curds in a container.
5. Allow the milk curds to stand for 2 hours.
6. Wash the milk curds with water and retrieve the plastic.

IPW Week 6 Reflection

IPW Week 5 Reflection

Lloyd did not came during that lesson. We could not carry on the experiment so instead we did a further research on the Decomposition of Natural Plastic.

IPW Week 4 Reflection

Week 4, we changed our topic to Decomposition of Natural plastic and planned to do the experiment the next week. We also assign each memeber to bring their own material.

IPW Week 3 Reflection

On week 3 of our G.R.A.C.E project, we research more on our chosen topic. We assign who to bring the materials for our experiments.

IPW Week 2 Reflection

On the week 2 of our IPW lesson, we discuss on what topic we wanted to choose. After much consideration, we chose a topic for our G.R.A.C.E Project that involes High Phosphate Detergent, Elodea Plants and Glass Jar.

IPW Week 2 Reflection

On Week 2 We Chose A Topic For Our G.R.A.C.E Project, It Involves High Phosphate Detergent, Elodea Plants And Glass Jars. We Also Decided On Joining The Biotech Competition.

IPW Week 1 Reflection

On our first lesson, we came up with our group name R.A.I.L. The name represent our first lettle of our own name. Our blog was up and we decided on our own roles and responsibilities for our GRACE Project.

IPW Week 1 Reflection

In The 1st Week Of IPW, We Created A Class Blog And Decided On Our Team Names. We Also Decided On A Group Name Called R.A.I.L And We Did A Worksheet On Our Roles.

Team Name

We have chosen the name R.A.I.L because each lettle represent the first lettle of our name.
Ryan, Aden, Issac, Lloyd = R.A.I.L ; ). It is easy and simple Team Name to remember.

1st Week Of IPW

On The First Week Of IPW, We Chose A Topic That Involved Decomposition Of Natural Plastic.
The Decomposition Of Natural Plastic Involves Heating Whole Milk And Adding Vinegar To It To Curdle, Allowing It To Curdle Into A Solid, Yellowish Mass At The Bottom Of The Clear Liquid That Consists Of Fats, Minerals And Protein Casein, Which Is A String-like Molecule That Bends Like Rubber Until It Hardens.
